What's the requirement check and how does it work?

The requirement check is a tool within LFU:online to check admission requirements when you want to book a course or register for a course exam.

If the lecturer has activated the requirement check, LFU:online automatically checks the admission requirements defined by the curriculum. The result of the requirement check is displayed on the second page of the booking procedure.

Note: LFU:online does not decide on your admission to a course or exam - the final decision will always be made by the lecturer. The LFU:online requirement check is designed to provide you and the lecturer with additional information.

Problems with the requirement check

There are various reasons why LFU:online might fail to check the requirements:

  • Lacking exams: Exams needed for the requirement check have not yet been stored in LFU:online.
  • Lacking or wrong allocation of exams: You have successfully passed an exam but LFU:online cannot attribute the exam to a specific module.
  • Recognised exams cannot be allocated: An exam has been recognised but LFU:online cannot attribute it to the correct module.

If the requirement check cannot be performed, a red flag will be displayed. There are three possible reasons:

  • Requirement check not possible: LFU:online cannot perform the requirement check.
  • Requirement check not activated: The LFU:online requirement check cannot be performed for this curriculum.
  • Requirement check not implemented: No admission requirements available in LFU:online.

In all those cases the requirement check must be performed by the lecturer without the support of LFU:online.

Note: Please use the field Remarks on the next page of the booking procedure to inform the lecturer that you meet the admission requirements. You may place your booking even if you do not meet the admission requirements according to LFU:online.

More information:

What can I do if the requirement check is wrong?

If the requirement check is wrong, you may still complete your booking. LFU:online will never decide on your admission - the final decision will always be made by the lecturer. The LFU:online requirement check is designed to provide you and the lecturer with additional information. Please use the field Remarks on the next page of the booking procedure to inform the lecturer that you meet the admission requirements.

Problems with the requirement check

There are various reasons why LFU:online might fail to check the requirements:

Must I use the SOWI points booking system?

The SOWI points booking system applies to most modules and courses of the Innsbruck School of Management and the Faculty of Economics and Statistics, but also to modules of other faculties with an economic focus. The faculties will inform every semester you by email where the SOWI points booking system is to be used.

More information:

How does the SOWI points booking system work?

The SOWI points booking system is designed to book SOWI modules. Each semester you get points that you can invest to book various modules. You get 2.000 points per semester - 1.000 points for the first round and another 1.000 points for the second round. This is irrespective of the amount of study programmes you enrol.
Points that have been left over after the first round may be used for the second round. After the second round all remaining points will be erased.

More information:

How many points must I invest in the SOWI points booking system to gain a module?

To help you invest the right amount of points you can study the "course costs" of earlier semesters.

More information:

How many points must I invest to gain a STEOP course?

If - after the third round - you have not gained 4 modules or courses worth 30 credits, please contact the relevant dean of studies.

What's an official electronic signature?

The official electronic signature is a signature issued by a public authority in Austria. It serves to mark a file as an official document. A digitally signed document is considered legally binding - there is no need for a written signature or stamp.

You can add a digital signature to all PDF documents available in LFU:online. Austrian authorities must accept these documents.

More information:

What is a digitally signed document good for?

You can now use a digitally signed document whenever you are asked to submit a signed and sealed copy. If, for example, you need to submit an admission record issued by the University of Innsbruck to be admitted to the University of Vienna, you can now create a digitally signed admission record as pdf.

More information:

How can I check an official electronic signature?

There is an offical website to upload and check digitally signed documents: https://www.signaturpruefung.gv.at/.
A print-out of an electronically signed document can only be verified by sending it to the authority which issued the document. The document which needs to be verfied has to be complete. An image (scan, copy) is sufficient and can be sent in any appropiate way.

Why is the electronic signature not visible?

Documents which were electronically signed by the University comply with the requirements of the European Union and use the PDF-format "PAdES". Unfortunately Mozilla Firefox' PDF-reader (PDF.js) currently does not support this kind of electronic signature and hides the signature block. If you open the document in a program which supports PAdES the signature block will become visible.
Documents signed by the University are valid nevertheless and can be validated here.

Why does Adobe show the hint "At least one signature has problems"?

Electronically signed documents from Austrian authorities will show the hint "At least one signature has problems." in Adobe Reader. Adobe has not yet implemented the certificate we are using to sign our documents. If you want to verify documents with Adobe Reader you will need to add this certificate manually.
Documents signed by the University are valid nevertheless and can be validated here.

How can I export/subscribe to my appointments and my course dates?

You can export/subscribe to your appointments and your course dates in LFU:online under Courses > Calendar export. From the list, you can select particular course dates or appointments (categories) you want to export/subscribe to. Using the fields Months before current month and Months from current month you can select the relevant time range for which your appointments shall be exported/synchronised. Please note that the value of the field Months from current month cannot be less than 1 and the value 1 corresponds to the current month.

To download an .ics file, please click One-time export as .ics file. The .ics file can be used only for a one-time transfer to a calendar app. Please note that the course dates and appointments will not be synchronised automatically in this case.

Alternatively, using the button Create permanent link you can integrate your calendar permanently in a calendar app (Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, etc.). The course dates and appointments will be synchronised regularly and automatically, depending on the respective app. Please note that some apps may take up to 24 hours to synchronise.

You can find further information about integration of an iCalender link on the help pages of your calendar app.
