Students are expected to acquire good knowledge of theories of motivation and emotion. In addition, they are expected to be able to critically evaluate the role that both motivation and emotion play in second-and foreign language learning.
The course provides an introduction to the study of motivation and emotion, also while exploring how these phenomena inform ultimate attainment in second-and foreign language learning.
Discussions, individual and group work, presentations
This is a continuous assessment course. Credit course requirements include: 1. 100% attendance and active participation in in-class assignments and discussions 2. Presenting a case study in class 3. Writing up a research proposal on one of the topics discussed in class (details will be announced in class)
