The objective of this course is to provide students with a setting to enhance their understanding of the contemporary workplace and the importance of development and leading within it. After completing this course students shall have a solid understanding of dominant models that underpin developing and leading in organizations, be able to employ these models for analysing practical problems in the workplace, acknowledge the implications of these models for organizations and employees and develop a reflexive level of understanding of these models from managerial as well as from critical perspectives.
the nature of managing and perspectives for studying development and leading the workplace, developing and leading in contemporary HRM, leading and change, leading through performance appraisals, leading through rewards, developing employees through training and workplace learning, developing managers, managing health and safety in the workplace
Inputs by the lecturers, discussing short texts, analysing cases & scenes from films, short presentations by students
