After completing this course students shall be able to work independently on a research topic in the field of leading and staff development, know how to produce a paper that critically assesses the literature and have collected experience in collaborating in web-based environments.

The seminar aims to support students in writing a research paper, from identifying a manageable research question over identifying relevant literature to developing a sound argument. The research papers are a foundation for students’ empirical research projects in the SBWL Personal Vertiefung. The research paper is also a preparation for your bachelor thesis.

Inputs by the lecturers, discussing short texts, analysing cases & scenes from films, short presentations by students

Mid-term exam (30%) Group seminar paper (70%) Participation in OLAT (minimum requirement)

The mid-term exam is on October 23, takes 30min and covers chapters 6, 7, 8 and 16 from the following text: Bratton, J., Sawchik, P., Forshaw, C., Callinan, M. & Corbett, M. (2010) Work & Organizational Behavior, 2nd edition, Basingstoke: Palgrave. The book is available for short-term lending in the SOWI-library (section Lehrbuchsammlung) and for purchase at the Studia bookshop.
