- to provide an overview of the paradigms, methods, processes and main problem areas in postgraduate research, - to establish participant's expectations, needs and priorities; - to introduce processes of individual and team project design and management

- to negotiate a program for the whole course, based on adult learning, theories and principles; - to provide individual consultation and advice; - to focus on project design, including research question/problem, significance, methods and timeline
