The objective of the course is to conduct a research project in the field of business in a systematic way. We will analyse the impact of long-term and/or short-term orientation on organizational performance. After a critical literature review the students will start with the development of the concept of the research design and sample, followed by the formulation of hypotheses and the questionnaire. At the end the students are shown different possibilities in analysing the quantitative data with supporting software whereas the most important findings are presented in a project report.

Introduction to the theory of science, principles of measurement, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, construct validation with confirmatory factor analysis Structural equation modeling, identification of structural equation models, fit assessment, testing for mediation and moderation with structural equation models Introduction to conjoint analyses, rating based conjoint analyses, ACA, choice based conjoint analyses, discrete choice modeling, market simulations

Lecture, discussion, presentation of student projects

- 40% individual participation - 60% final project report including presentation. Deadline for report: February 15, 2010
