The participants acquire the basis for PhD research in the doctoral school "Atoms, Light and Molecules".

Selected topics in quantum gas theory. Some of the concepts will be further explored through hands-on computer simulations using existing user-friendly code.

The topics covered include: • Long-range order, symmetry breaking and BEC • Dilute BECs: The Gross-Pitaevskii equation • Basic numerical simulations: BEC dynamics, interactions • Elementary excitations / collective modes • Superfluidity and quantum vortices • 1D: quasi-condensates and solitons • 2D Bose gases. Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless theory • Strongly interacting 1D Bose gases
