Die Studierenden verfügen über solide theoretische und methodische Grundlagen, um die angestrebte Masterarbeit innerhalb des darauffolgenden Semesters selbstständig durchführen zu können. Es werden Konzeption, Umsetzung, Einbettung in einen theoretischen Diskurs, Kommunikation und Vermittlung von Entwurfsprojekten und wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten vermittelt.

Erarbeitung einer individuellen Forschungsfrage, Vermittlung und Vertiefung der für die Bearbeitung einer Masterarbeit notwendigen spezifischen wissenschaftlichen Methoden und Inhalte.

In this course, we will develop a proposal for a master’s thesis in architectural theory, basically oriented along a foundational grant proposal. A thesis requires students to organize complex ideas and materials, work methodically, and produce knowledge that contributes to the scientific community. Preparation for this work involves familiarizing oneself with the relevant literature and understanding the methods necessary to address a clearly defined theoretical problem. By the end of the semester, students will have identified a precise topic relevant to contemporary architectural discourse, framed by a set of open research questions, a working hypothesis, and a clear understanding of the research objective—essentially, the intention behind their project. A clear exposition of the topic will be based on and reformulated by a series of primary and secondary sources—architectural and textual references. While this body of work may, in some cases, involve analytical drawings and models, it is not a traditional design project.
